Dunham Tradition

Date:
Saturday, February 23, 2008 - 12:00pm
AN EVENING OF DANCE IN THE
“KATHERINE DUNHAM TRADITION”
MADRID THEATER,
21622 Sherman Way,
Canoga Park, CA, 91303

(February 23 and 24, 2008, Los Angeles, CA) Dunham Tradition, a Marshall Dance Company Production, an evening length performance will affirm that Katherine Dunham’s legacy is alive and well under the careful tutelage of Sarah Anindo Marshall – one of only a handful of officially sanctioned instructors of the Katherine Dunham Technique.

Following Miss Dunham's example, The Marshall Dance Company uses dance artistry to address pressing contemporary issues as well as to preserve traditions. THE DEVIL COMES ON HORSEBACK explores the ongoing genocide in Darfur; the high-flying Lindy Hop suite BELT IN THE BACK, choreographed by MDC Associate Artistic Director Chester Whitmore, recreates Central Avenue in the 1940s and features the 18-piece OPUS ONE BIG BAND. Marshall Dance Company captures and masterfully displays the enduring power and electrifying beauty of the Dunham Technique, and the cultures and traditions from which Miss Dunham drew her inspiration.

The inter-culturally inspired dance form created by one our nation's most celebrated dancer-choreographers comes to life Saturday, February 23, 8:00pm and Sunday February 24, at 2:00pm, at The Madrid Theater, Canoga Park, California. Tickets: $15-$30 - For reservations please call: 818-970-6540

Make your reservations early, to ensure a seat.
Looking forward to seeing at the Theater.

Yours In Dunham!
